VoIP Services for Business:

Voip And Travel

VOIP is a wonderful option for people who need to travel and do not want to make expensive long distance calls.  It is a great way to communicate with the people you need to get into contact with.  If this is you, you should familiarize yourself with VOIP service details and you should also understand the facts about regular phone lines.  Most phone lines are linked to a location that cannot be changed unless you make a special request to your phone company. Voip does not have that limitation. Each adapter has a different IP address, just like a computer or router.

Your telephone number is associated with the adapter's IP address, not its physical location. That means you can pack it up, take a 22 hour flight to Patagonia, and when you plug the adapter into a broadband connection in your hotel room, you'll be able to make and receive calls just like at home.

When you call the office to check in, it's a local call. Friends and family who call you in Patagonia are only charged for a local call.  If you are considering VOIP services, you should ask yourself why not?

Why should you pay ridiculous hotel phone charges? Fortunately, VOIP makes it easy and inexpensive to stay connected while traveling. The array of features that VoIP has to offer allows the technology to be used in a myriad of ways.

An advantage VoIP telephony has over traditional phone service is its ability to travel with you.  With VoIP, you can travel locally or internationally and keep the same number, move house and have no break in service or simply go on vacation and have your same number and features.

Remember that cell phones can potentially fill this niche, however it is expensive to have a service that will work internationally and when moving house or going on vacation there is no guarantee that there will be coverage at your new location.

Also, VoIP offers a number of features that not only allow you to travel but will make it an advantage to take your VoIP phone with you rather than say a cell phone or pay those expensive hotel rates.

You can take your VoIP phone with you on a trip and stay in touch for free. Having the same phone number also means that you can be reached and there are no surprise phone charges for the people who call you.

Also, for business users, call transfer is beneficial, which allows you to transfer a call you have already answered to another number. Effectively you are taking your office network with you. This feature is not available with your standard Cell phone but does came as standard with most VoIP services.

Keep in mind that PC to Phone or can be a cheaper alternative or more convenient than traveling with an ATA or an IP ready phone. A simple software download and you can turn your PC into your telephone. You will still have all the features of VoIP but you will use your laptop to make and receive calls.  For business travelers you are almost guaranteed a phone service from anywhere in the world, excellent value for money at about ten dollars a month.  The introduction in recent years of the IP ready phone, which has the ATA built in, offers consumers a whole host of new features and applications.

Also, only when using 3G networks is it realistically possible and that then depends on the number of people sharing wireless bandwidth.  Remember that if you take into account the size of 3G cell phones, video becomes impractical.

You should also remember that if you are using VoIP, you are using a broadband internet connection; you are guaranteed the bandwidth to have good resolution video.  VoIP makes it possible to take your phone with you wherever you go. Unlike a cell phone, there are no roaming charges or expensive minutes to worry about. Voip is a great option for people who are on the go and need to keep in touch with their friends, families and other businesses.
